Mr.Rodgers and His Friends Top the Vikings

A Big Rodgers fan

In the season opener at Lambeau Field on Monday night, Aaron Rodgers started his first game in the NFL against their neighbor to the west, the Minnesota Vikings. Rodgers lead the Packers to a 24-19 win, making him the first QB to start and win a game other than “that older guy” since 1992.

The game started off the way most thought it would with great defense from both teams resulting in a 10 – 3 Packers lead. The Packers scored on a 1 yard touchdown pass to Korey Hall which had Rodgers contorting his body to make the throw. I swear when he released the ball neither of his feet were on the ground. Nice pass, Mr. Rodgers! Rodgers completed over 80 percent of his passes by going 18-22 for 178 and a TD, he also ran one in on a QB sneak at the goalline.

Minnesota made some adjustments at halftime and came out on fire with Tavaris Jackson leading the team down the field, hitting all kinds of wide open recievers. However, Green Bay’s Defense held up and only allowed a 27 yard field goal by the ex packer Ryan Longwell. Jackson had open recievers to throw to most of the night, especially downfield as Bernard Berrian was consistantly behind the Packers Corners, they just couldn’t connect. Jackson did finish the night going 16-35 for 178 a TD and an INT.

The Running game is where we figured Minnesota would do some damage with last years Rookie of the Year, Adrian Peterson, and we were right, as he ran for 103 yards on 19 carries and a TD. He looks like he’s moving at a completely different pace than almost everyone else on the field, the kid is good! He also had one catch for 11 yards.

Green Bay had a solid game all the way around but it was the big plays that lead them to victory! Greg Jennings, 5 catches 91 yards, had a great 56 yard reception where he had to go up over the defender to get the ball, which he made look kinda easy. Ryan Grant had a 57 yard run where he stiff armed the heck out of Ben Leber on his way to 92 yards on 12 carries. Then there was Will Blackman who returned a punt 76 yards for a touchdown.

Things i took from the game:
1. Aaron Rodgers is going to be fine.
2. The Packers will be good this year again.
3. Minnesota has great lineman, offensively and deffensively.
4. Adrian Peterson is a beast.
5. If AP gets into the secondary, watch out, he’ll run you over, just ask Al Harris.
