With the Packers Playoff Hopes Over; Green Bay Puts Aaron Rodgers on IR

The Packers placed quarterback Aaron Rodgers on injured reserve Tuesday, one day after they were eliminated from contention for a playoff spot, ESPN reports.

The Falcons’ 24-21 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ended any hopes the Packers (7-7) had of reaching the postseason.

Rodgers missed seven games earlier this season while on injured reserve with a broken collarbone but returned in Week 15 in Green Bay’s 31-24 loss to the Carolina Panthers.

Brett Hundley will take over as the Packers’ starting quarterback for the final two games as he had done so during Rodgers’ previous absence this season.
