Now that the New England Patriots have secured a place at the Super Bowl on Sunday February 5th, there is even more discussion about the career of Tom Brady. This will be the 7th Super Bowl appearance for the 39-year- old Patriots quarterback. So, is Brady the best quarterback in the NFL? And what about the claims that he’s the best in NFL history in that position?
The California born Brady has certainly come a long way since he regularly attended San Francisco 49ers games and watched his hero Joe Montana. Let’s take a look at why Brady is now a hero himself and, according to many experts, the best quarterback ever.
Still shredding defenses at 39
There is no question that Brady is still impressing fans in the NFL and he certainly makes The Patriots’ receivers look good. The guy tore apart Pittsburgh’s defense in helping The Patriots to an emphatic 36-17 win as they progressed towards their ninth Super Bowl appearance.
Brady has certainly been instrumental in the Patriots’ success. This has led to many of the games’ biggest experts referring to him as the best quarterback in the NFL at present; although he does not always get enough credit for the influence he has.
Is Brady the best ever?
There are many who believe that Brady can lay claim to being the best quarterback ever and not just in the current NFL line-ups. Let’s examine a few reasons why this may be the case.
- The post season record of Brady is an impressive 21-8. This is five more wins than his own childhood hero Montana.
- Brady has completed a total of thirteen Super Bowl touchdowns; a record.
- The Californian quarterback has achieved MVP status three times at Super Bowl.
- Brady has led the the Patriots to twelve AFC East division titles in his career. He is the first quarterback to achieve this figure.
- The four Super Bowl rings achieved by Brady means he is tied for the most Super Bowl wins by a quarterback with Montana and Terry Bradshaw.
All of this makes for an impressive list of achievements by the player who was drafted by the Patriots way back in 2000. It’s also worth remembering that he has more combined regular season and post season wins than any other quarterback in the history of the NFL.
If you are an NFL fan, then you probably have your own opinion about who is the best quarterback of all time. You may have more regard for Manning, Staubach, Bradshaw or Montana than Brady. But this will not necessarily stop you from putting your faith in Brady when you take advantage of legal betting on the Super Bowl and place a wager on The Patriots for the big game.
Whether you believe that Brady is the best quarterback of all time or not, you have to believe that the guy is going to have a major influence over events on February 5th.
