Eddie Lacy Earns Offensive Rookie of the Year Honors

lacy

As expected, Eddie Lacy ran away with the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award on Saturday night. Lacy beat out Chargers’ wide receiver Keenan Allen, Bengals running back Giovani Bernard, Lions offensive lineman Larry Warford, and Vikings wide receiver Cordarrelle Patterson with a number of 35 votes.

Lacy carried the Packers through a tough time — seven weeks while quarterback Aaron Rodgers was nursing a broken collar bone. Lacy finished the 2013 season with 1,178 yards on 284 carries and 11 touchdowns. The 61st selection of the draft was the third running back taken behind Cincinnati’s Bernard and Pittsburgh’s Le’Veon Bell. All three backs were productive but Lacy was obviously harder to handle in year one.

According to ProFootballFocus, Lacy finished with a positive overall grade in twelve of the sixteen games. Lacy proved he was not just a runner. The Crimson Tide Alumni allowed zero sacks showing he can help protect the quarterback.

Congratulations Eddie Lacy!
