Green Bay and San Francisco. Kapernick has destroyed the Packers in the past two games. He has combined for over 800 yards. In the last two games against San Francisco the Packers had the lead. The defense has let the Packers down each time. Let’s hope Dom Capers have the answers. It could be even a colder game.
Back to the preview of the Game. Four things to watch.
1. Defensive line: Kapernick beat us by his legs the first game, and his arm the last game. Kapernick gets into trouble when his first receiver is not open. That means Raji and Daniels need to keep pressure on Kapernick. Pickett has to keep the San Francisco tied up, so Daniels can use his athletic ability to pressure Kapernick.
2. Run game: Starks and Lacy need to keep the run game going. The longer Kapernick and the offense on the side line. Staying on the side line won’t be a good thing to do during the frigid night. Pound the rock as Jon Gruden used to say. The football will be a rock.
3. Packers Linebackers: AJ Hawk is the captain and needs to make plays. Vernon Davis cannot be covered. Hawk needs to be able cover Davis. Lattimore better have gotten in the film room. Lattimore was out of place numerous times against the Bears. Neal and Perry need to put pressure on Kapernick. Malaumba needs to continue to develop, getting pressure on Kapernick. Lastly, these linebackers need to set the edge to stop the big running plays like they had against the Bears.
4.Coaching: Harbaugh has owned McCarthy. Harbaugh seems to be one step ahead of McCarthy. McCarthy needs to pull out all the stops. He cannot hold back in this game. The conservative game plan will not work and if the Packers do get a lead. McCarthy needs to go for it. Not like last week against Chicago, where the players had to convince him.
My final thoughts are that the Packers should win this game. The weather should be a factor. Packers 17-16 49ers.
