Green Bay and Minnesota. Packer players have been saying all week that the playoffs start against the Vikings. Packer players have said in practice that players have been more serious. Tramon Williams has said that, “we need to step up.” The Packers should have been in playoff mode three games ago. The game against the Vikings is a must win.
Back to the preview of the Game. Four things to watch.
1. Running game: Scott Tolzein needs a run game to win this game. The Vikings will put eight in the box like every other defense has done. Still that is not an excuse, the Packers need to find a way to get those hard yards. Tolzein cannot win without a running game. Only the elite quarterbacks like Rodgers have a chance to win a game without a decent running game.
2. Secondary: The Packers secondary made Eli Manning like an all-pro quarterback. The problem is that Eli Manning is having one of his worst years in his career. The Packers will be without Shields and possibly Hyde. Tramon Williams needs to take over this game to give the Packers a chance to win this game especially if Hyde or Shields cannot play.
3. Linebackers: I know Matthews is still dealing with his thumb injury. He needs to suck it up and rally the defense. If we lose this game Matthews will have plenty of time to rest his thumb. Hawk needs to step up just like he did earlier this season. I’m not sure what happened but he looks a step slow again. Just like Matthews, Hawk needs to step up and give this defense a boost.
4. Safety Play: Burnett needs to have a big game especially if the secondary is depleted by injury. Burnett needs to be aggressive coming up to stop Adrian Peterson and help out Tramon Williams. He’ll need the help.
My final thoughts are that the Packers should win this game. I think it will be close early on but the Packers pull away from Washington. Packers 27-17 Vikings.
