What To Watch For Week One

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron RodgersWhat to look for when San Francisco and Green Bay play on Sunday. I know everyone loves lists. I’ll give you a list of three keys to Sunday’s game.

1. Offensive Line: It’s time to see if the Packers are ready for San Francisco mighty pass rush. If Aaron Rodgers has a clean pocket on Sunday we have a chance to win. That simple.

2. Running Game: The running game is a huge key to this game. The St. Louis Rams, and Seattle Seahawks power running game had their way with San Francisco last year. San Francisco wasn’t blown out by the Seahawks or the Rams but it provided a good pocket for the quarterbacks to play action. If Rodgers has play action in his arsenal it only gives him more time to pick apart San Francisco.

3. Defensive Line: The line has to execute flawlessly on Sunday. If the line can take away the run and have Kapernick pass more. I believe this is a win for the Packers. His top receiver Crabtree is gone, also Manningham will not play. That means Vernon Davis will be the key to the passing game. The Packers need to find a linebacker or safety that can match up with him. Anquan Boldin could give the Packers secondary issues if they don’t respect him. Boldin gets the tough yards just like he did when he was with the Ravens.

The Packers defense are able to help win this game if they can make Kapernick one dimensional. Kapernick only has a limited amount of starts underneath his belt. I would feel a lot better if Kapernick gets caught in a shootout with the Packers. That means Kapernick is not running. That way Dom Capers can do more blitz packages.

The offense needs Rodgers to rely on his running game to help him win this game. Rodgers trying to make a play by holding onto the ball, is only going to spell trouble. I believe the Packers pull this one out. Packers 27- 24 San Francisco.
