Linebacker Clay Matthews and the Packers have come to terms on a huge deal that will pay him somewhere about $13 million a season.
“Trivial amongst the recent tragic news, but happy to continue my career in Green Bay!,” Matthews wrote when he posted a pic of himself signing the contract on Twitter.
Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com says the deal will average “just north” of $13 million per season.
The four-time Pro Bowl LB is set to earn $3.73 million in base salary with a $40,000 workout bonus in 2013, the final season of his five-year, $13 million rookie contract.
Matthews is coming off a season in which he put up 13 sacks in just 12 games.
