All I’ve heard since Thanksgiving is Christmas Music. Granted, it’s been the same 5 songs over and over again, but nonetheless it’s been all over the radio. When you hear rhyming words all the time, you get into the poem/song mood. So I’ve decided this week that instead my usual statistic filled review/preview column, I’m going to write the column in song/poem style (I guess it’s going to be poem style since nobody is going to sing it. If you’re hoping of seeing me sing this, you have a better chance of Santa Clause picking up a hooker in Vegas). And…away…we…go
Last week The Vikings and Packers faced off
And Adrian Peterson was quicker than a cough
He ran up and down and around the Packers D
But the Packers were able to attain victory
The D picked their spots, Burnett with two picks
And most of Christian Ponder’s passes were bricks
That fell heavily to the turf without being caught
And the fans with purple shirts on were distraught
Aaron Rodgers’ stats didn’t jump off the page
But his teammates helped him on this game’s stage
The two headed rushing attack of Starks and Green
Continued the balance offensive attack we’ve seen
Again, the defensive side was bend but don’t break
On offense, take advantage of the opponent’s mistakes
With the Bears loss, a gift to the Packers was given
The Packers are now number 1 in the division
This week is the second installment of Detroit vs. Green Bay
And there are always storylines that arise from this day
Possible free agent stars, Turkey Day classics
And Ndamukong Suh acting like he’s in the Park of Jurassic
With Woodson and Matthews still being hurt
This may mean that Megatron could possibly flirt
With 200 yards receiving, and trips to the end zone
Causing Packer Backers everywhere to groan
But it might be the same on the opposite side of the ball
Causing the Detroit defenders to slip and sprawl
In trying to defend the Packers wide outs
Getting beat repeatedly on all of their routes
The Packer line needs to keep Rodgers off his back
Hopefully to prevent anything from going crack
If Rodgers has time, he’ll play the role of a surgeon
Performing surgery on the Lions, making the score burgeon
With the Packers division wise, being the Driver’s seat
They absolutely need to go ahead and beat
The Rival Lions this Sunday Night
At Lambeau Field, which should have some wintery bite.
My Prediction, get your abacus prepared
Could very well be 800+ yards attained through the air
I think the Packers will come out on top
And avoid having to swap
Positions with the Bears in the division once again
Let the final stretch of the NFL regular season begin
Prediction
Green Bay Packers 45
Detroit Lions 38
