The nightmare of the replacement referees are over. The NFL needs to thank the Packers for taking one for the team to invoke a sports cliché. Does any fan of the NFL really believe that if this debacle on Monday football didn’t happen we would have the real refs back?
In my opinion absolutely not, the NFL was watching the whole brand crumble around them. What did the NFL say? The NFL issued a statement that had some great spin on it like an Aaron Rodgers spiral. Basically, stating it’s not so bad. In fact John Lynch the former all pro safety with Tampa Bay and Denver, now an analyst for Fox Sports said on the Dan Patrick show, the NFL told them to ease up on the replacement refs for the first week. Lynch told Dan Patrick he played along until the second week and then all bets were off.
Imagine if we had these replacement refs officiated the Super bowl? The whole game would have turned into a joke not to mention the money that would have been lost. The whole scenario is mind boggling and thank goodness it never happened.
I don’t blame all the replacement refs I’m sure there were some that looked at this as an opportunity to officiate in the greatest league in the world. I believe that all of them were over their heads. The least these replacement refs can do is to just go back to their normal lives and remember the good times when they got to stand next to their heroes and fantasy picks.
Let’s all as Packer fans try to see the good in this we Packer nation made the NFL stand up and take notice. In the end we could be the Super bowl and would any of us want a replacement ref officiating the game? You’re welcome NFL.
