Two games into the season and the Packers offense looks out of sync. Are there reasons for legitimate concern? Or are we just overreacting?
First of all, I believe the Packers just need to settle down the offense. Sometimes it looks like their trying too hard. We all know Aaron Rodgers is a great quarterback with a bunch of weapons on offense that would make most teams in the NFL jealous. With that being said, I think McCarthy needs to step away from the play calling, let Rodgers do a Peyton Manning and call the plays. This might be a way to settle Rodgers down and make him feel comfortable with calling his style of offense.
Thompson needs to resign Jennings now. I have heard the reports of trading Jennings but let’s get real here. Jennings is the one that makes the offense work. Don’t believe me watch the Super bowl again. If Jennings gets hurt instead of Driver, we wouldn’t be hoisting the Super bowl trophy.
Rodgers needs to play a nice game of catch with his receivers. Get on the same page like he had for the past couple of years. His outburst with James Jones shows Rodgers is at wits end with his receivers. For the first time in his career Rodgers seems to forcing things on the field. There’s no chemistry between him and the receivers. If you went back and watched their Super bowl run you would see the chemistry there.
The last thing I notice is where’s the fun? Everyone looks serious trying not to make a mistake. Part of that might be attributed to the almost certain trade of Greg Jennings, Driver’s lack of playing time. McCarthy needs to get a hold on this soon to make sure the offense get back in sync. If I was McCarthy I would have a meeting and let the players get things off their chest. It might help everyone understand that the offense can still be a great offense and although things do change, they can change for the better.
