Packers Welcome Back Brett Favre

If he’s open to it..

The divorce between the Packers and Brett Favre was one of the ugliest in sports, and many have still never forgiven him for taking his talents up North to play for the Vikings.

Time has passed, and it’s been a couple years now since Favre has walked away, and the last time he was seen in a Vikings uniform, he was playing for a 6-10 team while the Packers were getting ready for a Super Bowl win.

While there’s still a grudge held by some, former Packers coach Mike Sherman spoke to Greg Bedard of the Boston Globe and he thinks that in time – a marriage will once again take place between Favre and the Pack.

“I think time will pass and everything will be made right,” Sherman said of the Packers-Favre divorce. “Green Bay has meant too much to him as a player and as a person and he’s been too much for them.

“I know there’s some hard feelings, maybe on both sides, but at the same time I think with time that all dissipates and he’ll be welcomed back with open arms. The dust just has to settle a little bit and the pain of his exit has to heal a little bit and I think he’ll be what he was. He was an icon.

“I know he loved his time in Green Bay and has phenomenal memories. I know that he cherishes every single Sunday that he went out that tunnel to the cheers of those fans. I think eventually that will heal up and be put in the past.”

Sherman has a point, as there was plenty of time for Packers fans to make Favre feel their wrath, but it’s already a couple years later, and the Pack have moved on with the best QB in the NFL, and Favre never won anything in Minnesota, though he came close.

So Packers fans, it’s time. Give Favre his due as the best QB in the history of the franchise, and let him back in your good graces. The Pack have been fine without Favre – it’s time to let bygones be bygones.
