Packers Pound Reeling Rams 24-3

The rifle arm of Aaron Rodgers threw for three touchdowns in the second quarter, as the Packers took home their 12th straight win dating back to last season, trouncing the Rams by a final score of 24-3 in Lambeau on Sunday.

Rodgers, who now has 17 scoring strikes on the season, connected with James Jones, Jordy Nelson, and Donald Driver on three consecutive touchdown drives.  The toss to Nelson was a 93-yard pitch and run after the catch effort to paydirt.

While the Rams were able to pickup some real estate early on, ultimately, potential scoring drives fell short.

On the first drive of the game, the Rams settled for a field goal attempt, and Josh Brown missed from 47 yards.  Seven plays, 51 yards for nothing.  The Packers answered on the ensuing drive with a 32-yard Mason Crosby field goal.

Dealt a fourth-and-3 situation near the end of the first quarter, the Rams went for it and Bradford’s pass was incomplete.

The Packers got the rock back and rolled the dice on fourth down as well, going for it on fourth-and-1 midfield.  Unlike their opposition the previous possession, they extended the drive, as James Starks busted loose for a 15-yard gain.

On the next play, Rodgers faked a handoff to Starks on the right side, rolling to his left and dropped in a dime to to Jones in the end zone for a 35-yard touchdown and 10-0 lead.

In the end, it was all about the Packers and Rodgers outexecuting the Rams and Bradford.  They make it look way too easy.

Next: 6-0 Packers at Minnesota Vikings, Sunday October 23, 3:15 CT.

Injury note: Packers cornerback Sam Shields intercepted Sam Bradford in the end zone during the third quarter – and was hurt on the play.  He left with a head injury, likely a concussion.
