Packers defensive end Mike Neal underwent knee surgery and will miss a substantial amount of time, head coach Mike McCarthy said on Wednesday.
The 2010 second-round draft pick out of Purdue has appeared in just two games during his career, registering three tackles and a sack/forced fumble.
With Neal sidelined, the Packers began the season with a 2-4-5 package, while 2009 sixth-round choice Jarius Wynn saw time at defensive end when the Packers used a three-man front. Wynn had four tackles and a sack against the Saints last Thursday night.
please tell me there is no Justin Harrell echos here
Knee surgery is awfully vague. A scope? What kind of knee surgery? Also, he hasn’t played in close to a month. If we anticipated he’d be out the first six weeks, why not place him on the PUP-list.
I think he had torn meniscus, which is done laparoscopically. There is no way they could have known he would require this or PUP would have been used. Tough luck
