Hawk Downplays Packers Offseason Workouts

Pro Football Weekly reports that linebacker A.J. Hawk isn’t putting all that much stock into the workouts that the Packers have done this offseason.

Most close league observers believe the Super Bowl-champion Packers have much less of an urgency to hold players-only workouts during the lockout than the majority of NFL teams — a belief that was emphatically confirmed by Green Bay ILB A.J. Hawk during a conference call for the American Century Championship celebrity golf invitational in Lake Tahoe.

“We’ve had only small groups of guys working out together, but the great thing about us is that we don’t have any rookies expected to start right away or new schemes that we’re putting in,” Hawk told PFW. “We just have to make sure everybody comes to training camp on time and in shape. Most of our guys are accountable and take care of their bodies the whole summer.”

Hawk’s right wrist, which was surgically repaired in February, is in good enough shape for him to participate in his third consecutive ACC event in mid-July. “It feels pretty good, although I can’t swing as hard as I would like,” he said.
