Longtime Packers PR Director Jeff Blumb Resigns

Jeff Blumb, the public relations director for the Green Bay Packers, has resigned from his position. The Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that Blumb will leave the Packers after a successful 22-year stint. Although the team is in a hiring freeze during the NFL lockout, he is expected to be replaced because it is considered an essential position and the freeze apparently applies to new positions.

“Jeff’s moving on, and we’re going in a different direction,” the team’s vice president of administration Jason Wied told the Press-Gazette. “Jeff and I have talked for a while. He’s been doing this for 22 years, and it’s become a grind for him. We both felt that maybe it was time to look at what else is out there.” Aaron Popkey will fill in for Blumb for the interim period. Wied suggested a replacement could be hired in four to six weeks or the department could be potentially be restructured.
