Crunching the Numbers Behind the Pack Super Bowl Win

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel had an interesting numbers look at Sunday’s Super Bowl win for the Pack, and if you believe all that stuff, here’s more reason to file it away for the future.

Quarterbacks wearing No.?12 have performed better than those wearing No.?7 in the Super Bowl, although Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is responsible for two of the five victories by QBs wearing No.?7.

The Packers’ Aaron Rodgers, wearer of No.?12, joins an elite group that includes Pittsburgh’s Terry Bradshaw and New England’s Tom Brady as Super Bowl champions.

No.?12 quarterbacks, 14 wins, 11 losses: Bradshaw, 4-0; Rodgers, 1-0; Ken Stabler, Oakland, 1-0; Joe Namath, New York Jets, 1-0; Brady, 3-1; Bob Griese, Miami, 2-1; Roger Staubach, Dallas, 2-2; Stan Humphries, San Diego, 0-1; Chris Chandler, Atlanta, 0-1; Rich Gannon, Oakland, 0-1; Jim Kelly, Buffalo, 0-4.

No.?7 quarterbacks, 5 wins, 8 losses: Roethlisberger, 2-1; Joe Theismann, Washington, 1-1; John Elway, Denver, 2-3; Craig Morton, Denver, 0-1; Ron Jaworski, Philadelphia, 0-1; Boomer Esiason, Cincinnati, 0-1.

Note: Morton wore No.?14 when he started Super Bowl V for Dallas.
