Penalties: In “Penalties Not Killing”, a writer presented statistical analysis proclaiming penalties do not really matter with pass protection being a more important indicator about a successful team. Apologists are a bad ego breed to the Lombardi winning discipline along with their suck-up bloggers reading their reviews.  The answer is yes and no. Penalties can be crucial drive killers in games along with turnovers and poor protection.  Also, both penalties as a sign of bad discipline and bad protection as an indicator reflect on the coaching & create barriers to winning games.

Injuries report: In the injury reports, key players are healing.  Rookies DE Raji and FB Johnson are progressing to get ready for the game against the Browns.  However, LT Clifton and C Spitz look to sit out.  Thus, rookie LT Lang will get his first start.  This is something that jclombardi and other bloggers have advocated in the past weeks.  RT Tauscher participated in full team drills, but he may not be ready to go until the Vikings game, along with RB Green.

LB Matthews: Rookie LB Matthews is getting deservedly good JSO and CPD write-ups.  Yet, it’s early in the NFL season and we shall see how he does in the Browns game against Browns LT Thomas.

Batman: The return of “Batman” RB Green has received mostly favorable reviews detailed in JSO and GBPG. MV says it provides insurance. Yet, the return of veterans like RB Green & RT Tauscher can only be a good thing, expressed by veteran CB Woodson and pundits, for this young team.

LB Hawk: The play and future of LB Hawk is talked about in two good JSO and GBPG articles.  Jclombardi was asked about him in questions (forthcoming) from a Browns blogger.  The answer: LB Hawk gets mixed reviews about his performances.  The critics say he is not an impact player failing to make plays outside of his own responsibilities throughout games. Meanwhile, he plays in the base 3-4 alignment and is replaced with mobile blitzer LB Chillar in the nickel package.  Still, the coaches are high on him considering him to be a consistent solid linebacker, but his future is cloudy in this deep talented linebackers corps.

Previews: In previewing the “flu bug” Browns game, the writers mostly talk about containing the offensive weapon KR/WR Cribbs and the wildcat formation to win the game.   It’s hilarious to read about the Browns hopes to be spoilers. Jsonline.  GBPG. ESPNM. CPD. Fox.

Game Plan: 1. Special teams & defense–shutdown Cribbs & wildcat formation 2. Pass, Pass & maybe run 3. Get turnovers 4. Avoid flu bug.

Lighter side: Packers blogger DO worries about “No Respect, I Tell Ya.” Singer “oh yeah, you’re mine, mf” Joan Jett is a long time Packers fan.   Good story!
