Don’t Give Up on the O-Line . . . Yet.

Did anyone have flashbacks during the Bears game on Sunday to the 2007 season when the Packers went 13-3 and lost both games to the Bears?

There is not much worse than having a home game, getting multiple turnovers and totally out-playing an opponent, only to lose in the end. Especially to the Bears!

There has to be some criticism and some credit given to the coaching staff for this one. First the credit:

The Packers won the game. They stuck it out with every twist and turn. When the time was up, they got the right call from the coaches and the players found a way to make it happen.

Now the criticism:

How do the Packers go through preseason camps, training camp, and four preseason games then end up with that kind of play from the offensive line? I won’t put the blame on one individual player or coach. As a complete unit and staff, how is it possible that they were not ready to play?

We shouldn’t give up on the offensive line and coaches quite yet. Just like the Packers didn’t against the Bears on Sunday.

We will learn a lot this Sunday when the Packers face the Bengals. We will see if these players and coaches have the talent to rebound. Otherwise, the musical chairs will start and the finger pointing will begin.
