Packers Release Jason Hunter

Roster moves continued today as the Packers released DE Jason Hunter.  Hunter, who was a special teams standout in three seasons with the Packers, was not a good fit to move from his traditional defensive end position to an outside linebacker spot in the 3-4 defense.

Here is the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s description of the move:

Defensive end Jason Hunter, who three years ago made the team as an undrafted free agent, lost his roster spot to another undrafted free agent.

On Monday, the Packers announced the signing of four undrafted free agents — cornerbackTrevor Ford, punter Adam Graessle, nose tackle/defensive end Dean Muhtadi andoffensive tackle Dane Randolph — all of whom were tryout participants in the rookie orientation camp this past weekend.

The Packers had 77 signed players on their roster going into the weekend and so in order to meet the 80-man roster limit, they were forced to release a player.
