Pack Sends Long Snapper Jansen to the Panthers for a Pick

The Panthers and Packers made a trade on Monday, as the Pack sent long snapper J.J. Jansen to the Panthers for a conditional 2011 seventh-round draft pick. The move could mean that veteran Jason Klye won’t be back as the Panthers long snapper for the 09 season.

Kyle hasn’t messed up a snap, but reports say that the team doesn’t have the money under the cap to sign him. That’s why they made the move to grab Jansen, who will fill the long snapping role. If Jansen, who was an undrafted rookie out of Notre Dame, makes the Panthers’ regular-season roster, Carolina will surrender a seventh-round pick in 2011.

Jansen didn’t play last season, as he suffered a torn ligament in his left knee in the teams final preseason game and was placed on injured reserve.
