The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is reporting that the decision to get rid of some assistants was the doing of coach Mike McCarthy. Here’s the report:
Packers coach Mike McCarthy cleared up any possible misconceptions when he said that the authority to hire and fire coaches is in his contract. He also said that the decisions to fire seven coaches and force the retirement of another were made solely by him.

Mistakes happen all the time.
The hard part of making a mistake is admitting it.
Let’s face it, thompson and mccarthy are both huge mistakes.
Packers will not succeed under their leadership, trust me.
Looking forward to the new leadership in Green Bay.
