Aaron’s Big Deal – Rodgers Gets New Deal Till 2014

Rodgers
The Packers have seen enough of QB Aaron Rodgers that they feel he is going to be the long-term QB of their future. Today Rodgers got rewarded with a contract though the 2014 season. Rodgers signed the paperwork Friday and the team announced the deal shortly thereafter.

“It means a lot,” Rodgers said. “I’m very excited knowing that my future is going to be here in Green Bay. I appreciate the commitment that they’ve made, and I plan to reciprocate that commitment in my play and hopefully prove to them that they made the correct decision giving me this extension.”

Rodgers was the teams first round pick of the Pack when he fell down the first round board back in 2005, and then he spent three tough years behind Brett Favre until the team finally said enough to Brett and traded him to the Jets this past offseason and gave the starting job to Rodgers.

In seven games, Rodgers has completed 65.6 percent of his passes for 1,668 yards and 12 touchdowns with only four interceptions. His passer rating is 98.8. “I still had a year and a half on my deal left, but this definitely means a lot to me that they’re saying I’m going to be the guy. And not just for the next two years, I’m going to be the guy for the future.”
