Despite Threats to Show; Brett Skips Out on Packers Camp

Rodgers and Favre

You can put the Brett Favre saga at Packers camp on hold.  At least for now.  Favre, who earlier in the week said he would be at camp today, the first for Green Bay, instead went back on what he was saying, and did not report to the camp.  The players were required to report at 7:30am this morning, and Favre was nowhere to be found.  Much probably to the happiness of the Packers, who are trying whatever they can to downplay the Brett situation.

Packers GM Ted Thompson reportedly told Favre to give him a couple of days to try and resolve the situation.  The Packers last week talked to a few teams about trading for Favre and their interest, as well as what they would be willing to give up for him.  Favre has asked for his release, as reports say he wants to move elsewhere on his own knowing that the Pack wants to go with Aaron Rodgers as their starter.

Two teams that are in the mix for Favre are the Jets and Bucs, and rumors about them getting permission to talk to Favre has been in the headlines since Friday.  One thing is for sure, when Favre does show up to Packers camp it’s going to be a media circus.

Just remember though, be careful what you wish for.  If Favre does end up in New York, Tampa Bay, or where ever, it’s going to be an adjustment.  Former Raiders QB Rich Gannon told Sporting News “If Brett goes to a different team, the results will not be pleasant.  He’ll struggle.  I think it’ll be one (year) and done – and he won’t be happy with the way it ends.”
