Harlan Thinks Favre will be Back in 08

Favre

Bob Harlan, the Packers top executive for the past 19 years, spent his last day in that capacity on Friday. Given that pedigree, when he has something to say about his team one tends to listen, and one of the last subjects he speculated on is one of great interest to not only Packer Nation, but to fans of the NFL as well. When asked about his record setting, 3 time-MVP quarterback and whether he would return for another run at the Super Bowl, he said he had a hunch that he would.

“Yeah, I think he’ll be back,” Harlan said Friday, “And I felt that way the last couple of years, when we’ve had these long debates about it. I just think he’s such a competitor that as long as he feels he can compete, he’s going to keep coming back.”

With that kind of suggestion coming from someone as close to the subject as Harlan, the way the previous season unfolded successfully, and the unfortunate loss the Packers suffered to end it, it is a distinct possibility that his ‘hunch’ is accurate. Consider this. Brett Favre spent most of the ‘07 season breaking records to make him the most prolific passer in NFL history. Do you think he is going to walk away from the game that has made him a living legend with his last pass being the interception that cost his team a trip to the Super Bowl? Unless he suffers a seriously debilitating injury in the offseason, we should be able to look forward to #4 behind center for at least one more season.
