Aggies Pick Mike Sherman As Coach

Former Packers coach  Mike Sherman will be the new head football coach at Texas A&M.  Sherman, who is currently the offensive coordinator with the Houston Texans, will replace Dennis Franchione with the Aggies.  Franchione resigned Friday after the team beat Texas.  Sherman joined the Texans after spending six seasons as the head coach of the Green Bay Packers.  He had a 59-and-43 record with the Pack.  Sherman will stay with the NFL Texans through the end of the season.  Defensive coordinator Gary Darnell will serve as interim coach as the Aggies expect to receive a bowl invitation.
