Surprising 2-0 Packers prep for Chargers

The Packers' Brett Favre vs. the Philadelphia Eagles

It’s been awhile since the Packers have been 2-0; they have until this season had this habit of losing four of their first five games (last 3 seasons).  And it appears that after beating NFC powerhouses Philadelphia and the New York Giants in consecutive weeks, their confidence is growing.  Which is a job in itself for Packers head coach Mike McCarthy; he said on Monday that getting caught up in your own recent success is one of the hardest jobs there is in the NFL.

So what’s McCarthy’s antidote to the “swelled head syndrome”?  McCarthy said to Chris Jenkins of the Associated Press,  ”I keep telling them they’re not very good, don’t believe what you guys write.”  As one would expect so far, the Packers are winning their games with a much-improved defense; they have allowed only 26 points thus far.  Which is a good thing since the offense is struggling a bit at the moment, save for quarterback Brett Favre, who is having a renaissance season 2 games in.

But the Packers have a monumental task ahead of them as they face the visiting San Diego Chargers this Sunday.  What game plans they utilized the past 2 weeks they can throw out the window and start fresh because the Chargers present a whole new set of problems, especially the Bolts’ defense.  That doesn’t undermine at all what the Packers have done so far; it is just a case of the team facing their biggest challenge to date this season.
