Packers D “On the Upswing” Says Fantasy Football Site

For those of you fantasy football players, if your looking for a defense that is expected to have a solid year, look no further than the Packers. KFFL.com, a top fantasy football site, says that Packers D is one of their “Players (or in this case, teams) on the Upswing” and should have a good 2007. Read below for their comments:

Green Bay Packers – After a rough start, this unit quietly emerged as one of the top fantasy defenses during the second half of the 2006 season. With all starters returning and rookie defensive tackle Justin Harrell on board, the Packers defense should become a solid fantasy unit this year. Most fantasy owners don’t realize that in the conventional defensive team scoring system Green Bay was a top-10 defense in 2006. Green Bay quietly racked up 46 sacks last year; only three teams amassed more. The Packers’ 33 takeaways (23 interceptions and 10 recovered fumbles) also ranked among the league elite. Defensive end Aaron Kampman tallied 15.5 sacks and earned his first Pro Bowl appearance. Defensive end Cullen Jenkins helped shore up a porous run defense, while rookie weakside linebacker A.J. Hawk led the club in tackles and likely will emerge as a dynamic playmaker. Cornerback Charles Woodson led the NFC with eight interceptions. He and cornerback Al Harris make a very strong starting duo. The Green Bay defense looks like a solid No. 1 unit.
